You’ll first want to select the forum that is BEST suited to your topic. Go to Forums located at the top of any page. Scroll down the list and notice the brief description of what each forum area covers. You are going to want to post your question only in ONE area. Posting your question into multiple forums is not allowed.

After you select/click on the forum you want to start a new thread in, notice (depending on your browser the upper left and lower left) the button to open a title and message box.

Make your title as specific as possible. In addition to adding to the effectiveness of searches by having a descriptive title, you’ll more likely get responses from those members whose areas of expertise match your subject.

Please note that coding does NOT work in titles, and titles cannot be edited by the user once posted. If you make a mistake you can PM a mod if you really need to change a title.

You may “preview” your post, or just click “submit new thread”. By default you will be subscribed to this new thread, and you will get an email notification when someone replies to it.

We would like to suggest that your very first post be an introduction of who your are. Tell us all about yourself and your business.

You should do this in the "Family and Friends" forum located under the "After Hours Section".

To you, your family are the most beautiful people on the planet. That is how it should be. We know how proud you are of your family and often times, they are your best "TEST" subjects.

However, the Pro4uM is all about us collectively making each other better. Often times, people are hesitant to give constructive criticism if they know they could possibly hurt your feelings, or offend someone's family members.

So, if you are posting images of your family with the hope of recieving some constructive criticism about your photography, please do not indicate that the subjects in the images are your family. Post those images inside of the appropriate Forum.

On the other hand, if you are showing off your family and want everyone to see how beautiful they are, you probably will want to post those images in the "Family and Friends" forum located under the "After Hours Section".

You may notice that some threads, called “polls”, also include a section where you can vote on an issue or question. When you post a new thread, you may have the option to also create a poll. This function allows you to ask a question and specify a number of possible responses. Other members will then be able to vote for the response they wish, and the results of the voting will be displayed in the thread.

To create a poll when you post a new thread, simply click the 'Yes! post a poll' checkbox at the bottom of the page, and set the number of possible responses you want to include. When you click the submit button, you will be taken to the poll creation page, where you can specify the question and the list of responses you want to include. You may also want to specify a time limit for the poll. Many polls that do not have a time limit will get called back up years later and then just do not make any sense.

When a poll does NOT have a specified time period, it will stay open to voting forever. When someone votes, that thread will show being “posted” to, although there is not a new reply. In other words, a thread will show it was newly posted to, but the last reply IN the thread may show a year ago. This is because it was only just VOTED on.
